ðŸŒŋ Welcome to My Digital Garden

Where technology meets botany, one QR code at a time

Hi, I'm Eric. This little corner of the internet bridges my love for plants with my passion for technology — creating an interactive garden experience that brings each plant's story to your fingertips.

Growing Tips

What I've learned works (and what doesn't)

ðŸŠīWhy This Garden Exists

What started as a simple backyard hobby evolved into something much more meaningful. Each plant in my garden has a story — where it came from, how it's thriving, what I've learned from growing it. But stories are better when shared.

That's when inspiration struck: What if each plant could tell its own story, right from where it grows?

The magic happens when you scan a QR code next to any plant. You're instantly transported here, to discover that plant's unique journey, growing tips, and the personal notes I've gathered along the way. It's like having a conversation with my garden, digitally.

This project exists to showcase the beauty in my backyard, share the joy of gardening, and hopefully inspire others to start their own green adventures — with or without the tech twist.

🔧The Technical Journey

What began as "maybe I'll label a few plants" transformed into a full-scale creative and technical adventure. Here's how the magic happens behind the scenes:

🏠 Self-Hosted Foundation: WordPress running on my Unraid server — because I like having complete control over my digital garden
📊 Plant Database: Custom plant tracking system built from spreadsheets and love (yes, spreadsheets can be beautiful)
🐍 QR Code Generation: Python scripts that automatically create unique QR codes and map them to individual plant URLs
🌐 Professional Setup: Reverse proxy and DNS configuration via Cloudflare for security, speed, and reliability
ðŸ“ą Mobile-First Design: Because most people will scan QR codes with their phones while standing in a garden

The project involved learning new technologies, solving creative problems, and plenty of trial-and-error. Each challenge made the final result more rewarding — and taught me that the best projects combine multiple passions.

ðŸŒąReady to Start Growing?

Whether you're a plant enthusiast, a tech tinkerer, or someone who just scanned a random QR code in curiosity — welcome! This garden is alive and growing, just like the plants it celebrates.
